Introduction to the Wines of France
This week our EXPLORING THE WORLD OF WINE evening will be paying homage to the great regions of France; Burgundy, Bordeaux and Rhone as well as visiting too often overlooked regions such as Alsace, Loire and the exciting South of France.
Awaken your taste buds as we discover why Burgundy is one of the most beguiling of wine regions in the world. Why Bordeaux is perhaps the most famous wine region in the world producing some of the most expensive wine in the world but also great value if you know where to look. Visit the Rhone another classic region and home to the wonderful warm & spicy reds produced from Syrah (aka Shiraz) & Grenache such as Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Explore the Loire and Alsace for benchmark whites from Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Join us to discover why those in the know consider the South of France to be one of the world's most exciting wine regions producing delicious food-friendly reds & whites to suit every budget; from the famous Rose of Provence along the Mediterranean coast to Spain the South of France is home to a wide range of lovely wines of ever increasingly quality as the new France seeks to reclaim ground lost to the New World.
This evening is a real eye-opener that covers a range of styles, regions and price points helping you to de-mystify those labels and to fall in love with French wine. If you are interested in discovering more about perhaps the greatest producing country in the world, then this is the course for you.
