Food & Wine Workshop
Have you ever wondered which wine to serve at your dinner party or what goes well with Asian food ?– well this is the tasting for you! The evening is aimed at demonstratiing which wines go well with different types of food. We start with a delicious, rich, creamy Champagne, and then we will taste crisp, unoaked whites with delicious shellfish such as prawns / mussels, and combinations like Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc with spicy aromatic Vietnamese cuisine. Lighter, elegant reds (Pinot Noir) to accompany simple but tasty rich meat pate, and heavier, spicier reds (Shiraz/Grenache) that match perfectly with complex-flavoured meat dishes with herbs and garlic. We will conclude with sweet and tangy Muscat dessert wines that surprisingly go as well with blue cheeses (eg Stilton, Roquefort) as they do with fruit-based desserts. After the workshop you will have a good basis of knowledge that will help you combine wines with food and enhance your eating pleasure! All the tasting food & wine is included in the price. We will be tasting :
- Top NV Champagne with smoked salmon, horseradish & creme fraiche
- Delicious dry, minerally Chablis with Moules Marinieres (mussels in garlic, white wine, & fresh herbs)
- Zesty citrus/lime flavoured Riesling from Australia with pan-fried tiger prawns with chilli, garlic, & ginger
- Beguiling fragrant New World Pinot Noir with a rich country pate
- Warm spicy Shiraz/Grenache with Boeuf Bourgignonne (slow-cooked local beef in red wine, shallots & herbs)
- Honeyed, candied peel flavours of Sauternes with a delicious Roquefort Cheese
