We also arrange & host hugely popular British and Global Beer Tastings. We normally taste a wide selection of properly made beers - from hoppy British real ale to German and Czech Republic lagers, American micro-brewed golden ales to Belgian fruit beers. They are all produced in the old-fashioned way - ie bottle conditioned, live beers made from quality specialist hops, & specialist malts, not to be confused with the anaemic, tasteless, & pasteurised offerings produced by the large commercial breweries - that pass for beer in a lot of our bars and pubs!
A Beer Tasting also makes a Great Gift for anyone who likes good beer!
Good indicators of real beer are the depth of fruity, yet bitter hop flavours present in your pint, its smoky, malt-spiked finish, as well as a gentle snail’s trail of tiny bubbles on the head and a faint spritz on the tongue.
You will also learn how beer is made and how the different types of malt & hops affect that all-important taste. The beers are always accompanied by some traditional English fayre such as proper sausages!
